Simply in Season calls this “fruit by the yard.” I call it just plain good.

1 cup flour
1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter (I substituted coconut oil)
1/2 cup milk
4 cups assorted fruit (I used 2 C of blueberries and 2 C of raspberries)
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 Tbs butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1. Combine flours, baking powder, and salt; mix in butter until crumbly; stir in milk with a fork until it forms a ball of soft dough. Press into the bottom of a 9×13 baking pan.
2. Mix the fruit and spread over top of the dough.
3. Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle over the top of the fruit. Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 30-45 minutes.
4. For best results, eat the same day you make it.
Servings: 10
The Verdict: I could have done without the cinnamon and nutmeg, but it was a good overall dessert that serves a lot of people.
