In reviewing Fresh From the Farm: Great Local Foods From New York State I noticed a recipe for chocolate chip cookies. At first glance I thought “who needs another chocolate chip cookie recipe?” All these years I’ve just used the back of the Nestle’ package of chocolate chips. But I thought I’d give this recipe a try, as they are Tate’s signature item. (Tate’s is a Bake Shop in Long Island).
FOR A PRINTABLE VERSION CLICK HERE: Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
3. In another large bowl, cream the butter and sugars together. Add the water and vanilla and mix until just combined. Add the eggs and mix lightly. Stir in the flour mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Be sure not to overmix the dough.
4. Drop by 2T full on the prepared cookie sheets (either greased or use a SILPAT or parchment paper), 2 inches apart, and bake for 12 minutes or until the edges and centers are browned.
Servings: 50
Yield: 50 cookies
The verdict: Not just another cookie recipe. this really IS crispy, even though I used real butter. The flavor is excellent, although that could be because I finally got some decent vanilla extract.

Yum! Love me some chocolate chip cookies, although I can never get it to make as many as the recipe says (might be because the dough some how goes missing? LOL!) 😀
Thank you for sharing!
Have a great day!

So, how did you like them? I am going to have to try them. I’ve always used the Nestle Tollhouse recipe. Thanks for sharing!
The Local Cook
They were great! Not super different from the Tollhouse, but a little crispier.

I am a sucker for cookie recipes. Although, I must admit, I have not yet found a choc chip recipe that beats nestle. I will try this one. I have a recipe for shortbread chocolate chip cookies waiting to be tried out.
Found you through Sits. Love that you promote local foods!
