If your New Year’s resolution is to cook more at home, you won’t want to miss this series!
The Dark Days of winter is the perfect time to work on learning the basic building blocks of cooking. Things that, when mastered, will make putting dinner on the table a breeze. Things that will save you money by making it from scratch and taste better to boot.
Last summer I realized that I’ve been cooking from recipes and learning by trial and error, but if I really commit to getting some of the basics down, my cooking should improve dramatically. Now that my garden is overwintering, my CSA is done, and the holidays will soon be over, I’ll be researching and experimenting and sharing my results with you. By the time we’re done in April, it will be time to turn those new skills loose on fresh, spring, local ingredients!
I’ll be using Alice Waters’ The Art of Simple Food: Notes, Lessons, and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution as a rough outline, and pull in information from other cookbooks I’ve amassed.
