This past weekend was very restful. On Friday, which is jeans day at work, I decided to wear my UGGs all day. Around Christmas I was able to score an awesome deal on them – $100! Someone on a forum I’m on had ordered them for her daughter but they were too small. Lucky for me!
They are so cozy, and made me smile all day. I decided it was a good metaphor for this past weekend. They are waterproof, keep out the elements, are warm and fuzzy inside, and the elastic button attachments make them stretch and accommodate for a perfect fit. They might not be super stylish, and I don’t normally spend that kind of money on myself, but it was a nice treat.
On Saturday I spent the morning making greeting cards. I had forgotten how much I love to create. There’s something nourishing to the soul about turning pieces of colored paper and images into something attractive and handmade. On Saturday evening, DH and I celebrated one of our best friends’ 40th birthday. It was a good time of laughing and sharing.
Since we were out so late on Saturday, we skipped church (shhh) and slept in. We went to my parents’ house for lunch and I was able to see my new niece (born last week). I love spending time with my extended family. I know I’m very lucky in that respect.
I’ve loved Sundays for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up we would get up early for church, attend catechism, then go to my paternal grandparents’ for coffee. My mom made a big lunch, then we would take a Sunday nap or watch TV, and go to my maternal grandparents’ for a few hours in the evening. Since my dad was a farmer, Sundays were about the only time we got to see him.
I have many fond memories of Sundays, and I hope to make many more.
How was your weekend? What did you do to nourish your mind, body, or soul?

I had the weekend off, so a good friend and I took off for most of Saturday, running around GR.
Farmers market, asian grocers, thrift stores, and lunch at a Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai restaurant.
Sunday we went to church, then Costco where we scored some littleneck clams for cheap! Came home and opened the clams and spent the rest of the day doin’ pretty much nothin’.
A great weekend, for sure!
