One of the benefits of being a blogger is that companies want to send you free stuff in the hopes that you’ll review it on your blog. Which in theory is great: my readers get to learn about interesting products, I get free stuff, and the company gets the word out about its products. In practice, though, I end up with way too many things to review and I really don’t want this to turn into a review blog. So, I’m grouping some things together, sort of like they do in magazines.
Wine in a Carton: Better Than it Sounds
First up is wine in a carton from CalNaturale. Yes, these are the same folks who provided me with the all-natural protein drinks to give away a few months ago. I was intrigued to discover that they sell organic wine in those same packages.
The PR rep was happy to send me a 500 ml container of both the Chardonnay and the Cabernet Sauvignon. It felt a bit strange pouring from a cardboard-type of container, but the wine itself was pretty good. A little sweet, but perfect for the beach or camping (which is why many buy these types of containers, I’m told). Unfortunately it has pretty limited distribution. I hope this idea catches on with other wineries.
Whole Wheat Pasta: If you can’t make your own, at least make it whole wheat!
I’ve decided I’m not going to try making my own pasta anytime soon. Over the past couple of years, though, I’ve developed a preference for whole wheat pasta over white. When Delallo offered to send me some, I gladly accepted. (You may have noticed I’ve been eating a lot of pasta lately!). I have loved everything I’ve tried. It’s nice and rustic and toothsome (don’t you love that word?). Also organic! Speaking of organic . . .
Organic Freezer Meals: Not an oxymoron
Remember when I ate Lean Cuisines for a month? While it helped me lose some weight and avoid the drive thru, I did wonder about the ingredients. Which is why I was so excited when the PR rep at The Organic Bistro offered to send me two coupons to try their freezer meals. Unfortunately the local grocer who carried their line wouldn’t accept coupons, so I paid full price but I’d gladly do it again. I tried the Moroccan chicken and it was so yummy! And, I felt good knowing the ingredients were organic. I’ll be stocking up on more of these for sure.
Have you discovered any awesome products lately?
Disclosure: While I received complimentary products to review, I was under no obligation and all opinions are my own.

I like wine in any form…box, bottle, paper bag….!
Whole wheat pasta….hmmmm…not too sure. The ones I have tried have been rather, er…cardboardy tasting? I will have to give Delallo a try.
Organic freezer meals….those would be perfect for a single gal or guy. Likely too pricey for more than one. Good to have on hand for, like you said…when you do not want to go thru the drive-thru. Well, you DO want to go thru the drive-thru…but you know you shouldn’t!
