Sometimes, you want a cookie that’s not your run of the mill chocolate chip. One that doesn’t make you feel guilty. These sunflower raisin cookies from Simply in Season fit the bill, and are so delicious you won’t miss the chocolate.
The recipe:
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat germ
2 Tbs dry milk powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup peanuts (chopped)
1. Mix together whole wheat flour, wheat germ, dry milk powder, baking soda, and set aside.
2. Cream butter and brown sugar together until light & fluffy; mix in egg and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients.
3. Drop by rounded teaspoons on baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven at 350F for 10-12 minutes.
Servings: 24
The verdict: I LOVE the combination of sunflower seeds, raisins, and peanuts. The cookies are nice and chewy. Even my best friend’s daughter loved them!
