The long-awaited burger cook-off was yesterday. It was so much fun!
We arrived, and our hosts had made little dessert burgers of nilla wafers, grasshopper cookies, frosting and colored coconut. They were so adorable! The judging hadn’t even begun and we declared them the winner.
The charcoal grills and DH’s SRG were fired up.
DH made guacamole sliders, and the others made regular size burgers. They were quartered, and five judges were recruited for each round of judging. I wasn’t able to judge the first wave, since I might be biased against DH. I did judge the second round, though. In the round I judged, there was a bacon jalapeño burger, a BBQ with bacon burger, a blue cheese burger, and one with cheese/bacon and a ton of other toppings. It was a very difficult decision.

Two winners of each round progressed to the finals. DH got to the finals!
He cooked his remaining burgers and everyone at the party was invited to cast their vote for best burger.
Alas, he was not the winner. He was second place though. I have to say, there wasn’t a bad burger in the bunch and a great time was had by all.

Oh my gosh, that sounds so yummy and fun! We have been wanting to have an “Iron Chef” style party with our friends but weren’t sure how to go about it. All the burgers sound mouthwatering and the dessert burgers are so cute! 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

I really liked this format – the judges voted for their top two and then the two with the most votes from each round went to the finals.

This looks like so much fun!! I’d love to try it with friends, but none of us are really amazing chefs. Maybe I’ll stick to the Beer Tasting Party idea 🙂
The Local Cook
yes, we must do the beer tasting party!
