Back in April I had a post titled Traditional, Better, Best, in which I described that sometimes we can’t always achieve the ideal, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make baby steps towards it. Tonight’s pasta dish was a great example.
Because I’m a FoodBuzz member, I received a coupon for free Buitoni Riserva refrigerated pasta. I normally don’t do premade. But with all the craziness of the power outage I decided to give it a try. So I bought the chicken herb tortellini. along with some fresh made french bread.
While it was boiling, I decided to saute’ some fresh peas from the garden, a handful of kale, leftover bok choy, and some herbs. It was beautiful. To top it all off, I found a bottle of Alfredo sauce in the refrigerator that DH used on his pizza.
The meal was very tasty, but don’t look at the ingredients on the pasta or the sauce! Yet it was so quick and easy. Such a dilemma. In the end I decided it was probably healthier than fast food, so I allowed myself to enjoy it.

The fact that you “allowed” yourself to enjoy it really brought a smile to my face. I try to make good for us choices the majority of the time, but if I am going to “splurge” I do allow myself to enjoy it! 🙂
