Like just about everybody else, I hope to lose some weight in the New Year. Yesterday I found out that I’ve been selected as a Lean Cuisine/Skinny Cow blogger! I’m so excited that I’ve decided to bare my soul for the whole world to see.
Through Collective Bias, I was one of 11 bloggers chosen to undergo a 31 Day Challenge with Lean Cuisine and Skinny Cow. You can follow our tweets, via #31Days. This group of ladies is such an awesome group….check them out!

Every Friday I’m going to post my weight loss progress. And I’m going to reveal my total goal:
Created by MyFitnessPal – Free Weight Loss Tools
“Wait a minute,” you might be thinking. “Lean Cuisines and Skinny Cows? Doesn’t sound like real food to me.” I agree, it’s not ideal. But after trying to cook with real food for the past year or so, I’ve come to realize that when things get busy I head for the drive thru or takeout, which is NOT a healthy alternative. So in addition to trying to do more make-ahead and meatless meals, and meal planning more regularly, I am stocking up on Lean Cuisines for those times when I just didn’t get around to making dinner. I might get to a point where I build up enough rhythm to freezer meals and easy weeknight favorites and lunch ideas where I don’t have to do that, but in the meantime I’ve decided to use this little crutch.
In addition to trying not to eat out so much, I will be tracking my calories and starting the RevAbs program that I reviewed last month.
Wish me luck!
Update: Because all of the other “Lean 11” gang is doing it, I decided to go ahead and put my photo in this post. I just got out of the shower and it is NOT flattering. Then again, none of the pictures of me are these days.

Awesome!! Good luck! And I love Skinny Cow. That’s the problem; I eat the whole package, pretty much negating the ‘skinny’ portion of the product name.

Have you ever tried a raw food plant based diet? I just did a writeup on it and I have the links posted to youtube where several diabetics lost at least 20-30lbs in 30 days while kicking the need for insulin and other diabetes medication. A once-per-year detox of going totally raw might be the way to exceed your goal….

Actually, I have thought about doing raw food, but it’s something I would do in the summer when I have local produce more readily available from my CSA. Plus, in the winter I need something warm to keep my doshas balanced 😉 Actually I have no idea if that’s the correct term but I do know that warm food when it’s cold out and cold food when it’s warm out seems to make me feel better.

Yep that’s the correct term…I haven’t heard that in ages 🙂
Indeed it’s probably better to wait until you can get the good stuff at seasonal prices. I try to do a 30 day detox every 4-6 months where I go totally raw with my eating. It’s actually very enjoyable for the most part but obviously it can be a bit inconvenient if you put pressure on yourself to do it year-round. After a month you can add more variety but by then you’ll find yourself instinctively eating raw food for part of the day since it simply makes one feel great! Food truly is medicine if done right…

Excited about the Lean 11, can’t wait to start reading about your progress. I too make meals at home but sometimes not everything dethaws and it is easier to do take out. Other times I have a hubby that likes to go out and always asks me to go with or we do the whole family, I feel guilty saying no but now he knows what I’m doing and has told me he will help with it. I’m hoping to get him and the kids to follow through.

This is so great! We’re at just about the same place, weight-wise. I can’t wait to read about your progress!

Thanks! It’a little nerve-wracking putting it all out there, but nothing like a few hundred readers to keep one accountable, eh?
Naomi
I’m looking forward to going on this journey with you!

Yea! So excited to see you do this. I know you can! I’m checking out the Lean Cuisine and Skinny Cow products later this month. If you haven’t yet tried it, I’m a HUGE fan of the Glazed Chicken Lean Cuisine. It’s been one of my go-to’s for years.

Thanks for the tip! Will definitely check that one out.

Good luck! I agree that Lean Cuisines are great to have on days you just don’t have time to make a home cooked meal. I just bought 7 of the new Market Creation type at Kroger. They are having a buy 5 get 2 free sale plus I had coupons. I gained 10 pounds since I started blogging and need to fit back in my clothes. Hope to see your results at Gleek retreat. 🙂
