What a weekend! Where to start?
DH put in his two weeks notice on Friday. He has another job lined up. It was just time for him to move to a different company. After 17 years, it was not a healthy environment. We have jointly decided that life is too short to not have a job that you love. In a few more years we still hope to open a brewery; in the meantime we’re paying stuff off. Except my birthday present, as shown above – a new motorcycle! Selling my old one and using DH’s vacation day payout should cover it though.
As I turned 36, I realized how much I DO love life! Is it how I imagined it would turn out? No. But I love my husband with all my heart. I love my job. I get to travel. I have lots of hobbies and friends. I do not have kids, but DH and I have recently decided to spend more time with other people’s. It’s a win win; we get to have fun and the parents get a break. Funny thing, we get tons of offers now from people who would like some free babysitting 😀
Someone asked me if we gave anything up for Lent, and I mentioned this project where I’m trying to do one thing that nourishes ME every day. I’m sure it sounds weird, but over the past few weeks I have noticed myself noticing things more. I am more present. I am happy.
Yesterday at church our pastor told us that intercessory prayer is not so much to tell God what we want (He already knows, duh), but to bring greater awareness of that person to ourselves. I’m sure I’m not conveying all the theological meaning but it made a lot of sense to me. My mom posted on facebook today that my grandma used to pray for others.
My mother after a Sunday and for the rest of the week would pray for all the ones mention in church , and all the neighbors who had troubles and others. She would name them by name and pray ,sometimes the list would get long. But she would try to remember them or would say a friend of so and so. My list is growing longer too today. But I don’t mind. Praying for love ones. — my mom
I am so thankful for all the people in my life. I hope that you are able to take the time to spend time with those you love this Lenten season.

I LOVE what your mom posted about your grandma! I started writing names down in my little .50 thrift store notebook recently…names of folks I have met on the bus, at work, etc…people to pray for. Cause if I don’t write ’em down, I will never remember their names!
My goal this year (my 60th year) is to love more.
Starting with Jesus.
Loving Jesus,
Loving people,
It’s my new sign off on everything I write these days….
A reminder of what is important
