I picked up my first winter CSA last night. Unfortunately, I think they forgot I was a late addition because when I arrived all that was left was carrots, potatoes, onions, and turnips. I was also supposed to get leeks, collards, kale, and rutabagas.
Anyhoo, there are only two recipes in Simply in Season that use turnips, one of which I’ve already used. So please post your favorite turnip recipes in the comments. I’ll have lots to use up!

If you like sauerkraut or other fermented foods, you could try sauerruben. The Slow Cook posted about it here for a Dark Days challenge in ’07.
I’ve got a mason jar full on my counter right now. It’s a couple of weeks old and seems to be fermenting fine. Haven’t tried it yet, but I have high hopes!

Winter CSA? Nice.

Can’t help you with the turnips, as i usually just toss them in a pot of soup. I have made a dish similar to scalloped potatoes with them, with a sprinkle of bleu cheese. My kids used to love that!
I AM selling my rather primitive looking soap, just haven’t put them out on ETSY yet. Too much going on! But they are $3.50 each, and made with TLC right here in my kitchen!
