Despite being on vacation and having lots of parties last week, I’m doing pretty well in terms of developing healthy habits for 2016!
Let’s recap my goals from last week:
Exercise 3 times
How did I do? I ran twice, and also spent a whole day cleaning. I think that counts! While on my run I had to stop and take a photo of the beautiful winter landscape. I’m also proud to say that I PRd my 5K and 10K times!
Develop Training Plan
I decided that my goal races for this year will be the Bayshore Marathon May 28 and the Sunrise Side Half Ironman on September 10. It’s been several years since my last triathlon so I have a lot of training to do! I have picked my training plans and realized that in order to fit it all in, plus have time to do things in the evenings, I am going to have to work out in the morning. Gulp! I am so not a morning person.
In order to develop THAT healthy habit, I turned to some of my fellow #FitFluential Ambassadors for advice. They delivered!

What I realized is, the routines I’m developing will definitely come in handy! I’m working on integrating the FlyLady method into my daily life. (More about that Wednesday). I am going to set my alarm, pack my bags, and have no excuse for not getting up and out the door in the morning. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Finalize Cleaning Plan
This one is still in process (I’ll share how far I’ve come on Wednesday, as mentioned above). BUT, it feels good to have a plan and I feel so much more organized. My kitchen looks awesome too if I do say so myself. Of course, the meal planning and weekend prep I wrote about last week definitely help keep things tidy!
I am LOVING meal planning. I even made this binder to keep myself organized:

Overall, I feel pretty good about the healthy habits I’m developing.
My goals for the coming week:
- morning workouts
- continue to refine cleaning routines
- continue to refine meal planning and weekend prep
What have you found that has helped you?

Congrats on your 5K and 10K PR’s! That winter scene is gorgeous! I LOVE working out/running in the mornings! It’s the perfect way to start my day. Plus the workout is done and you have the rest of the day ahead! Good luck transitioning!

Thank you! One of the things I love most about running is being outdoors and seeing nature.

I like the idea of one week at a time 🙂 If I look to much ahead I make my self crazy lol
Nice runs! You do have some pretty scenery to recharge with.
Cleaning should count as exercise..always!

Congrats on your PR times! I’m the opposite. If I don’t work out first thing, it’s not going to happen. I’ve gotten so accustomed to my dark predawn runs, it’s hard to accomplish them at other timea. I’m very impressed with your Half Ironman goal. I’ve done more cycling this year (due to injury) and would like to branch out a little…maybe. It would definitely be out of my comfort zone. I’m not good at meal prep, unless you count going to the grocery store. I do love cooking in the crock pot though. What a time saver! Thanks for linking with us Wendy. Hope to see you next week! Happy New Year.

Looks like you had a great week! It’s great to get everything cleaned up at the start of the year. Training for a tri sounds so exciting!!

Congrats on your PR times! Good luck with your training for the marathon and Ironman! I prefer to run in the mornings. I’m less likely to get it done at the end of the day when I’m exhausted after work. It can be tough to drag myself out of my warm bed in the cold winter months though.

Thank you! I am having a hard time getting up this week, I think because I’m back to work after having vacation for a couple of weeks. here’s hoping it gets better!

I too came from kicking and screaming to loving a morning workout. I don’t miss the extra sleep plus it insures I make my running priority. I love my Eric Condren organizer although I changed from a vertical layout to a horizontal one and I’m still trying to figure out what works for me. You have hit the ground running for 2016!

I have always loved the looks of the Eric Condren organizers but I’ve concluded that I’m not a paper person for my daily planning. Glad to hear that you were able to switch to morning workouts. it gives me hope!

I’m the queen of daily to do lists. If I write it down, 90% gets done. The key is finding the right amount to put on my daily list and knowing which things can slide.
Sounds you have some great goal races for 2016!
