Yesterday I handed out oranges as a volunteer at the Grand Rapids marathon. I realized how much weight I’ve lost and gained; and how I miss running and feeling healthy. I talk about it from time to time on this blog, but it’s time to DO something. So I’m taking the Truvia Challenge.
What I like about Truvia is that it’s made from Stevia, a plant. So for the next 30 days, I’m foregoing sugar and substituting Truvia whenever a recipe calls for it.
In addition, I will be tracking my calories at SparkPeople.com and making an effort to move more. I’m trying to decide whether to start the Couch to 5K. I’ll let you know when I update next week!
I should mention that I definitely plan to use real food, not frozen meals or shakes. I’ve been down that road before. I hope that by blogging about it, I will feel more accountable. I’m still plugging away at the Simply in Season recipes, but I’ll also be focusing on more meat and plant based recipes.

I was sent Truvia for an entire month’s sweetener needs (both a 40-ct carton of individual packets and one spoonables container) by Collective Bias. All opinions are my own.

That image of the Stevia plant is enough to inspire me to try Truvia! It’s beautiful! I look forward to hearing how the challenge works out. I’m also glad that you mentioned the Couch to 5K. I’ve heard of it before, but procrastinator that I am, I filed it away in the far recesses of my brain. This post was just the kick in the pants I needed. Thanks for the motivation & inspiration!

I just finished week 4 of Couch to 5K. It’s totally doable and it such a sense of accomplishment when you complete a week. Seriously, I have never run a mile in my life and I’m enjoying the program. It’s totally mind over matter!!
