Last year spring came early; this year, it shows up for a few hours and promptly goes and hides when the snow appears. Nevertheless, I’ve been making a conscious effort to change what I’ve been eating, go through my pantry, and get ready for gardening and CSA season.
Cleaning the Pantry
(and the refrigerator . . . and the freezer). Now is a good time to go through and toss stuff that is past its prime. Start spring with a clean, shiny new refrigerator, pantry, and freezer. Wondering if something is still good or not? StillTasty is a handy website that will tell you whether you should keep or toss it. Once the freezer and refrigerator are emptied, give it a good cleaning. Here’s a handy how to clean a freezer checklist and a how to clean a refrigerator checklist from Real Simple.
Restocking the Pantry

It’s Autumn here and I’ve been stocking up for soups and stews. I cleaned out my entire pantry recently after getting pantry moths. I hate those buggers. 🙂
