Over the past week, the little sprouts have really taken off! It’s fun to watch the little green shoots start to turn into something recognizable.
I was surprised at how many seeds came up, especially because a couple of the packets were from last year. So now I’ve been researching how to thin the seedlings. Apparently you’re supposed to wait until there are 2-3 true leaves or until they’re 2-3 inches tall. I think I’ll choose the latter method. That way I can eat them 🙂
We had the dirt delivered for the 4 new beds, now I need to buy fencing (small to keep the critters away, plus some larger pieces to use as trellising).

I got nothin’ so far. In fact, haven’t even cleaned out the beds yet:( I did work on the herb garden this last week, and will get if finished today.) Then in goes some cilantro and parsley. Basil will have to wait a while as that goes somewhere other than the herb garden. I plant too much of it to fit in there!

Aw there’s plenty of time. I was at a bit of an advantage since I only had one bed of “early” stuff. I just have some carrots to plant this coming weekend, then the rest is going in Memorial weekend or so. I’m not sure where I’m going to put my herbs. I have a garden plan but I keep changing my mind 😀

I love this time of year when I see everything coming up in the beds.
The herbs can be popped in anywhere, including your flower beds. I often plant my annual herbs like parsley and basil in the vegetable garden, and I have my perennial herbs in a permanent bed and scattered around the yard. I shared about it at Outdoor Wednesday.

Love it when everything comes up!

I like to wait to thin as well- nothing like “baby” veggies that they charge so much for in the stores. 🙂
