I know I extol the virtues of West Michigan, but I have to admit that I’m smitten with Seattle. I had a quick trip for work and found myself with a free afternoon, which I spent at Pike’s Place Market.
Pike Place Market is probably best known for the flying fish.
Seriously, the seafood is gorgeous. If I lived here, I would eat so much more of it!
I was also drawn to the colorful fresh flowers.
Can you believe these arrangements were only $10-$15?
We stopped for a quick lunch of pasta and headed to The Tasting Room for some wine tasting. It was a fun little spot serving Washington wines.
We decided to try the dessert flight, and each wine was paired with a different chocolate. I think my favorite was the Riesling with a salted caramel. Totally unexpected but it paired perfectly.
I wish I could have spent more time there, but alas the market was closing and I was also a bit jet lagged. Be sure to come back next week when I’ll be back to my regular cooking in season. No more traveling for awhile, I hope.

Pike’s Place Chowder is THE BEST. They have several different styles, but I think the New England Clam Chowder is superb. Funny they aren’t even in New England.

Stopping by from SITS.
When I used to work in corporate America I traveled a few times to Seattle. I have said many many times I would love to live there! Amazingly beautiful!
Have a great week.
