If the theme of last weekend was family, the theme of this past weekend was friends. On Friday DH and I helped our friends’ daughter with her homework. On Saturday, I drove DH and his friend to the Winter Beer Fest. I dropped them off around 11 AM and picked them up in time for a dinner at our friends’ house cooked by a professional chef.
Now, we don’t normally hire personal chefs, but this was a special dinner that I won through my participation in the World Foods Fusion Taste Team. We were allowed six people so I naturally chose our best friends Mike & Christina (above) and their two daughters. I thought it would be fun for the kids (14 and 6) even if they didn’t care for the food.
Our appetizer was sauteed shrimp and scallop over polenta. It was a huge hit, although a bit spicy for the youngest one.
The main dish was spaetzle, salad, and flank steak wrapped around asparagus. The flavors were incredible – who knew you could do that with the bottled World Foods sauces?
The adults thoroughly enjoyed the dinner, and the kids were able to swap items with each other so they enjoyed what they did eat. And Chef Brad was a ton of fun. Of course, DH was exhausted after such a full day (he had to get up early that morning to work before heading off to the beer festival).
