I hope each and every one of you had a Merry Christmas! I had so much fun visiting with my parents, sisters and their families. It’s amazing how fast nieces and nephews grow up (especially my sister’s children who live in New York and whom I don’t see very much). Even time spent with my in-laws was fun (although DH’s homebrew may have helped a bit).
I have spent these past couple days when not at family gatherings poring over lots of books and websites. Making plans. For some reason, a blank calendar gives me hope that I can accomplish anything. THIS will be the year I get organized; get into a cleaning routine; implement once a month cooking; read through the Bible in a year; lose those last 100 pounds; run an olympic distance triathlon; finish the business plan for the brewery that DH and I are dreaming of. Oh, and sew through my stash of fabric and learn how to knit. Did I forget anything? LOL.
I took this week off of work and am going to take this opportunity to do a 3-day cleanse. Not the diet kind (although I will definitely be eating more healthfully after all the overindulging this past weekend). The housecleaning kind. Getting back to stretching/yoga in the mornings. Decluttering. Inventorying the pantry and freezer. Getting rid of clutter.
For some reason, with all the organizing blogs and websites like flylady.net and Martha Stewart and Better Homes and Gardens, no one has cleaning plans specifically for a three day cleanse. Maybe that means I’m crazy. What I did was download the cleaning worksheets from Martha Stewart and block off half days dedicated to specific sections of my house.
Wish me luck.

Decluttering sounds wonderful! I just ordered myself a huge CD/DVD/VHS rack to help organize my bedroom, and have been getting rid of things I no longer watch or read. My plan this year is to get through the Old Testament–I’ve read a few books of it here and there, but really want to get in-depth.
Good luck with all your goals! (Definitely learn to knit if you can…it’s worth it.) God bless. 🙂

Thanks! What do you think is the best way to learn how to knit? Videos? In person classes?
Sam
It depends on how you learn things best. If you’re visual, learning in person or using sites like Knitting Help (which has a lot of videos) would be a good idea, but if you can pick stuff up by reading about it or using diagrams you could probably start with a book. I first learned from one of those hokey “learn to knit!!”-type books I grabbed from Wal-Mart, lol.

Good luck! =)

I like to do those things this time of year too. Will you post your experience and results? I haven’t even bought a 2011 planner yet because I can’t decide if I want 1 pager per day like I had this year, or go to a 2 page per week format. Some days I have lots of things written down, others are totall blank!

Of course! As for the planner . . . I ended up making my own using a three hole punch and 3 ring binder. I change it up throughout the year. For some reason some seasons I need a lot of room, other times not so much.
