Cultivating a Daily Art Practice #dyicad2018

Ever since starting The Artist’s Way (I am still working through it, life got in the way) I became convinced that taking a few minutes each day to simply create would be beneficial. Problem was, I didn’t really have a structure.

Then I came across the Index Card A Day Challenge hosted by Daisy Yellow. Jackpot! The basic premise is that you do something creative with an index card each day for 61 days. They also provide prompts, which you can use (or not). I have been using the prompts and it helps me push my creative limits. So far so good, although I have to admit cheating a little because I was not feeling well, so I worked on a couple at a time over the past week.

I’m posting them on Instagram–here are the first week’s cards. Remember, the idea is that they are quick and easy, not works of art to sell haha.

I couldn’t find index cards in my stash so I went to Office Depot. Jackpot! They had a nice set on a jump ring, perfect for storage.

I'm taking part in #icad this year. 61 days of art on index cards. I'm so excited to create!

DNFed my first double marathon yesterday. couldn't get anything down after mile 37 or so. But I still logged 48 miles! it's all a matter of perspective. 3. Tilt-a-whirl #icad2018 #dyicad2018 #createeveryday #artjournaling

#dyicad2018 day 4: Ferris wheel. I love the quote. For these challenges I'm finding myself turning to @tangiebaxter collage sheets and Jim Holtz quote stickers. #artjournaling #createeveryday

So far I’ve been drawn to the art journal collage style, for the most part. It is interesting to see my style evolve as the days go by. I’m very new at this, so we’ll see how things go!

Do you find a way to create every day? Let me know how in the comments below!
