Scones
1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
2 Tbs cold unsalted butter, diced
1 Tbs egg (beaten)
2 Tbs heavy cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Chocolate Glaze
3 Tbs semisweet chocolate chips
2 tsp butter
2 tsp hot water
1 Tbs confectioners sugar
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1. Preheat oven to 375F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Place flour, sugar, cocoa, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a food processor. Using the knife blade, process until blended. Add the butter pieces and pulse until crumbs form. Transform to a medium sized bowl.
3. Place egg, cream, and vanilla in a small bowl and whisk together; pour into the center of the dry ingredients and mix with a fork until the dough starts to hold together.
4. Divide into three equal parts and roll into balls, press to 1 inch thick, sprinkle with sugar, and bake for about 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack.
For the Glaze:
Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave or over low heat; stir until smooth and add water and stir until well blended; stir in cinnamon and confectioner’s sugar and spoon over top of the scones.
Servings: 3
The Verdict: For a little recipe, it packs a big chocolate punch. They were a bit on the dry side, as most scone recipes are, but just make an extra batch of the cinnamon glaze for dipping. Use fair trade cocoa, and it will be super rich.

That glaze sounds delicious! 🙂

Naughty! Those look sooo good. I make a chocolate cinnamon fudge pie but rarely make it because it makes a whole pie and I don’t trust myself. But a recipe that makes 3 is brilliant!

It’s a good thing that the recipe creates only a few scones or else it would mean bad things for my waistline! These look so good!
