It’s funny, some weeks of this Back to Basics cooking series I have way too much I want to say about the topic; other weeks I am feeling totally uninspired. This week WAS one of the latter; I mean, how much can one say about frying pans? Then, I saw a post by my friend Donielle come across my reader . . .
I hope you’re enjoying this series. I’m enjoying writing it. For some reason researching and writing about a specific topic each week has made me realize how much I know about cooking and how much I still need to learn. Honestly, I’ve also enjoyed taking a break from cooking new recipes all the time – DH and I have been cooking very simple meals when we cook at home (we’ve had a lot of traveling over the past couple of weeks, plus I’ve been sick, and also a lot of meetings in the evenings). It’s been a nice break, but I am soooo ready for spring and farmers markets and fresh vegetables!
Anyhow, back to this week’s topic. Today I’m sending you to my friend’s blog to read her post Non Toxic Food Preparation, Part 2. It’s part of her 31 Days to Cleaner Living series and in today’s post she talks about learning to love her cast iron pans. She also has some great tips for using and cleaning them. Her blog is called Naturally Knocked Up, but don’t worry–it has tons of great info in it even if you are not, have never been, nor ever hope to be knocked up.
Be sure to come back tomorrow to share your own recipes that use a frying pan – so we can all perfect our cast iron techniques.

Thanks for featuring cast iron in your blog posts. I am a big fan of cast iron, except for eggs. I see I’ve been doing things wrong (washing with soap) and so I’ve seasoned my main pan (I have 3) and will try to mend my ways. DH cooks the eggs in this house, though, and he is hesitant to change his ways.
