First, I want to say that even though it’s only been a couple of days into the 40 Days challenge, I am already having so much fun deciding what “nourishing” thing I’m going to do for myself each day! Nourishing is really loosely defined for this, so it’s whatever makes me happy.
Of course since it was Valentine’s Day, DH and I went out for dinner. I would have been content to stay at home, but neither of us felt like cooking. We don’t do gifts. But, neither of us made reservations anywhere so instead of the usual cooking class or paired wine dinner we went to one of our favorite beer & burger joints.
You know what?
I am so happy to have married someone with whom I have a great time, whether it’s a hole in the wall burger joint or a five course paired wine dinner downtown.
Also, know what’s great about having met DH on Match.com? I have lots of love emails from when we were dating early on. I read through some of them that I still have in my email in a special folder. I realized that I still feel the same way about him as I did way back when. I forwarded one of our particularly mushy email chains and said, “I still feel the same way.”
He responded, “So do I.”
Saving emails that make you feel good is a great way to nourish your soul. I have a folder in my work email that is labeled “feel good.” whenever I get a compliment or a thank you email I put it in there to read on days that are kind of crappy. You never know when you might need a good pick me up.
Do you save old emails? Are they the “new” love letters?

Feel-good emails – great idea! I have a growing file of w-correspondence from bff in Ohio (“see” each other mostly electronically these days) just because she ‘s so entertaining; fun to go back and see what we were dealing with at any point. We’ve always said we could/should write a book about adventures/misadventures, kids and Life in General; easier to save her words this way (transcribing yellowing handwritten letters – Some Day Project). Tired of being “only grownup in the room,” she started signing as Everyone’s Mother; thence, Queen of Everything to struggling to find her rightful “kingdom” and being, variously, Queen of Dairy, Queen of Nuthin’ and assorted other titles.
