Mix cherries, sugar, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat.

Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add to cherry mixture; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Cool while you finish the rest of the recipe.

Cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs and flour to the creamed mixture; spread on the bottom of a 10x15 inch jelly roll pan; score into 30 squares; put a spoonful of cherry mixture in the center of each square. Bake in preheated oven at 350F for 35-40 minutes.
