Trim leg of lamb of excess fat, cut slits in meat and insert garlic slivers with tip of knife.

Combine remaining ingredients and rub mixture thoroughly over the roast and into the meat. Place on a rack in a roasting pan and roast uncovered at 350F. Roast 20-25 minutes per pound. Let stand 20 minutes before carving.
